Zesty Green Juice Recipe

Why is it when someone drinks a green smoothie people immediately assume you are a health fiend or on a juice cleanse? I genuinely have this most mornings because it is so easy to make and it tastes great. I don’t know about you but that is exactly what I need at 6am.

This is the kind of drink that not only wakes you up but also your insides because it’s so refreshing and tangy.

You will need: Apple, Ginger, Spinach, Carrot, Lemon, Apple juice, Pea protein (optional).

Step One

Either cut or grate your apple and 1/2 a carrot into small pieces so that it is kind to your blender. By this I mean don’t make it work too hard, especially if you are like me and it is a cheap one. (It’s lasted me a while because I treat it well, know what I mean?)

Step Two

Grate a thumb sized piece of ginger so it looks nice and slushy, then grate 1/4 or 1/2 of your lemon. It really depends on how tart you want this drink to be.

Add your grated carrot, apple, ginger and lemon to the blender or juicer. Then add a large handful of spinach and a heaped tablespoon of pea protein. Once everything is in fill it up as much as you would like with apple juice. AND BLEND

Note: The reason why I use Pea Protein instead of whey protein is because I am not clued up on protein, so with this particular kind I know exactly what I am consuming. (It is also: vegan, gluten free, soya free, non GM and has no added sugars or sweeteners.)

The past recipes I have written have been sugary and indulgent, so it only seems right that the healthiest month of the year I provide something a little (A LOT) better for you.
