The Balenciaga Sock Boot Effect

It happens every season. You know, that trend that is 100% unavoidable. That trend that you quite possibly hated for the first 3 months then you warmed to right after it hit H&M (Case in point: casual corsets.)

But since last year, we've been seeing yet another niche product hitting up on the high street: the sock boot.

Yes, thanks to none other than Demna Gvasalia’s creations at both Balenciaga AND the label of the year, Vetements, we have reached peak sock boot people. How do we know?

Because Kylie Jenner is wearing them on the reg and of course, fast fashon retailers have followed.

Here are some of our favourite dupes that is sure to save you the £500-£900 price tags!

Mellow Yellow, £49.99

OK, OK, Zara are ALWAYS one of the first to jump onboard a hot trend (FYI, their FW17 collection is mainly Gucci dupe, #justsaying) but dammit! They do it so well! These yellow numbers are sure to be a personal favourite of mine but really, you can do no wrong with any of the many colours they have available.

Tangerine Queens, £39.99

Available in 5 colours and a print, these Public Desire sock boots are for those who want one for every outfit. Well, they are A/W's finest afterall.

Red or Dead, £69.99

You can never go wrong with the boot of the season, but you'll sure win top trumps with getting them in the colour du jour!

Heel goals, £89.99

If you want to take a more subtle approach to the trend, Mango got you covered with a colour pop heel flash.

Hubba Boot, £52

Hubba hubba indeed! These Topshop numbers come in khaki and black and will be sure be hard workers in your wardrobe.

Clean and simple, £35

PLT got staple trend pieces down, so of course it wasn't long until they jumped on the sock boot bandwagon.

The sock boot is going nowhere (as if you couldn’t tell), so shop while the offering is plentiful, colourful and well, cheap! That is unless you go big...

Original and Best, Balenciaga £885

Well if you join 'em, may as well beat 'em too!
