Social Bite – helping the homeless this Christmas and all year

Social Bite is a social business, that means they use their profits to help solve social challenges. Inspired by “Creating a World Without Poverty: Social Business and the Future of Capitalism” a book by Prof. Yunus, the founders Josh and Alice started Social Bite.

100% of their profits are given to charity and at least a quarter of the staff are formerly homeless.

Last year Social Bite teamed up with ITISON to enable customers to buy £5 vouchers to donate meals to homeless people in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Over 36,000 meals were purchased.

This year they did the same and over 72,000 £5 deals were bought enabling homeless folk a hot meal and somewhere to go on Christmas Day. As well as this, surplus monies from this fund raiser will be used to provide a pack of food and winter essentials from Trespass for Refugees in Europe.

Grabbing a quick lunch whilst Christmas shopping? Pop into Social Bite & grab something to eat, you'll be helping a great charity and the food is great, much better than most options for a quick sandwich!

On Boxing Day, Social Bite will set off in a convoy of vans to deliver your donations to the men, women and children fleeing conflict. Social Bite will be travelling to Calais, Lesbos and the Croatia-Serbia border to meet with charity partners working on the ground to distribute the packs and help those in need.

Social Bite sandwich shops can be found on Rose Street and Shandwick Place in Edinburgh, St Vincent Street and Bothwell Street in Glasgow and Union Street in Aberdeen.
