|Scotland Re:designed who have recently partnered up with Harwick Knitwear and have featured talent such as Christopher Kane, are preparing for this year's SRD.
Launched in 2005, Genuine PR was created to showcase Scotland's design talent, which within the year took the likes of Christopher Kane, Jennifer Lang & Sarah Raffel to LFW. Not only were they the catalyst in these designers careers they also supplied make up artist extraordinaire Ana Cruzalegui to work backstage & helped secure venues for shows. The project evolved and in 2012 Scotland Re:designed was born.
Scotland Re:Designed (SRD) is the international organisation for showcasing Scottish fashion and interiors, building business, collaborations and opportunities for designers.
"SRD helps designers develop their talent into business, produces Scotland’s annual fashion and interiors show, and then supports designers via our highly sought after annual Awards presentations to show at events like London Fashion Week Men’s, London Fashion Week, 100% Design, Clerkenwell Design Week, in addition to producing independent showcases with artists at SWG3 in Glasgow, the ICA in London, PMQ in Hong Kong, with the Chicago Loop Alliance among others for a number of partners."
S:RD didn't pop up out of nowhere, for over 10 years the Director Chris Hunt has been working tirelessly with the Scottish Government to secure funding. They have helped countless designers with business advice, contacts and provided the Scottish fashion scene with an endless supply of drive and passion.
Having taken Scottish design talent all over the world, they are a force to be reckoned with and one we actively keep an eye on!
This year Scotland Re:Designed is working with Hawick Knitwear in a special collaboration to offer British designers a chance to work with a leading cashmere brand. Scotland’s leading fashion, accessories and interiors showcase, which takes place in Glasgow (9th to 13th November) will be supported by Hawick Knitwear in an innovative alliance, which will see talented designers from across the UK given international opportunities to work with a leading textile manufacturer.
Chris Hunt, Director at Scotland Re:Designed explains:
“The creative partnership enables new growth & relationships in a new business community, having met Hawick Knitwear’s new owners during our Hong Kong Showcase in March 2016, we now have the amazing opportunity to award six brands / designers the opportunity to design, make and show new collections using Hawick Knitwear’s skills, technologies and finest yarns and cashmere in a combined showcase and manufacturing programme.”
All the details for upcoming shows are below & if you would like to know more about the SRD story then take a peek at the video below, where you can also find a snippet of one of Christopher Kanes first shows.
Scotland Re:Designed will be held in the iconic St. Enoch Centre, a 4000sq ft+ venue at the top of the escalators in the modern glass atrium, diagonally opposite the original House of Fraser on Glasgow’s Style Mile Buchanan Street.
The showcase will feature displays and collaborations with Glasgow art legends SWG3, a new gallery of upcoming photographers from @ScotStreetStyle’s Onward!, and new design talent from the Glasgow School of Art and Fashion Foundry.
