Ryan Lo SS18 at LFW

The crowned prince of kawaii returns this year with his SS 18 collection, opting for monochromatic bridal vibes by way of Lolita. Ryan Lo is leaning hard in to fashion’s current love affair with princess dressing with plenty of romantic chiffons, extravagant beading and soft florals.
Gone are the big, brash and bright colours that have so often defined his presentations previously – instead sticking to a far more muted colour palette and shifting the focus on to texture. There’s nary a look here that would look out of place in Harajuku in particularly the mini caplets covered in butterflies, sheer tulle dresses and twisted pearl detailling throughout.
It’s a very idealic youthful collection that feels a bit like if Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice styled a bridal party, which perfectly encapsulates the funeral party/wedding vibes Lo has used as reference points here. Once more Lo has teamed up with esteemed milliner Stephen Jones with top hats and veils providing a welcome masculine edge to the hyper feminine collection.
