It's not very often your little sister steals the show, but I guess exceptions can be made when it comes to VERSUS. Yup, Versace’s rebellious, rocky lil sis closed day 2 of LfW leaving us seeing stars, or Supers more to the point! Reinstating all the trends our mums just don't understand, from oversized puffa jackets to branded underwear worn high on the hips, this was little bit of goth kid, brushed with some 90s rave culture and nessesary sports-luxe thrown in for good measure. As far as capturing the right now IRL aesthetic, VERSUS truly reworked club kid heritage for a new generation, making it one of the most under rated shows of the season, and here's why.
I know, we mentioned it before but really it should be said twice for effect. The supermodel was THE most ninties way getting your designs seen, so when Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Adwoa Aboah, Taylor Hill and Stella Maxwell ALL strutted our cyber rebel nineties dreams, well that was just a Super squad goal moment.
Designing the collection with the Hadid sisters in mind, Donatella brought out some of her ninties classics. Slit skirts, midriffs, chockers, underwear as outerwear. This was your one stop shop of club friendly evening wear.
Anchoring most of the collection from staple jackets, collottes to miniskirts (held together by D rings, natch).
GOTH KID WITH A TWIST
The mainly black collection let the club kid aesthetic shine with raver hues of pinks and blues shaking up furry knits and puffer jackets.
A Versace show wouldn't be a Versace show (little sister or not) without some iconic logo imagery. And rightly so! VERSUS was printed across tees, chockers and waistbands, that bold VERSUS branding was giving us life.
A who's who of cool, the FROW was packed with celebs from M.I.A., Jourdan Dunn, Will.i.am, Micky Boardman and Rocco Ritchie, and even us FFD girls who partied on in the venue until long after the last look closed the show. Because, when at LFW, right?!
