The end of sale time can be a bittersweet moment. On one hand, it’s wonderful to see some fresh new styles but on the other, it can be pretty troublesome for our bank balances. Which is why it’s time to get tactical and invest in pieces we will always need. Anything from gym or occasion wear, to investing in wardrobe basics you know you love. Or then there’s my favourite, the winter coat. In the UK the longevity of a good coat can last a lifetime, but when it’s cold over half of the year, girl needs some options. So if you are on the market, now is the time to grab something to wear right now, next year and beyond. Whether your thing is structured or slouchy, we’ve found a 2016 version that ticks all of 2017’s trend boxes.
The Classicly Clean
I mean, come on. It doesn’t take a Vogue editor to see that this cotton-wool blended beauty is one that covers all style bases.
Mango – Was: £139 Now: £59.99
No season is complete without a trench and SS17 is no exception with 50+ shades of khaki across the runways. If you don’t have one already in your wardrobe, here’s a clean lined cracker from The Finery London.
The Finery London: Was: £175 Now: £87
The Robe Coat
The main coat trend across the catwalk for SS17 has got to be the robe coat. Tick two trends in one box with this incredible fringed number.
T by Alexander Wang – Was: £869 Now: £347
Stay ahead of the fash pack with this classic shaped number in the hue of the season. Top tip: after you grab it for half off, replace the buttons with something more you.
Zara: Was: £99.99 Now: £49.99
The common thread running through most of the trends this season is black is taking a back seat and making way for colour. Yellow, blue, green, pink, you name it, it’s everywhere so it would be a fashion crime to not give in to the powers of this Acne Studios gem.
Acne – Was: £1,800 Now: £900
The (faux) Fur
There’s never a bad time to add another fur coat to your collection, and if there was ever a faux to fall over and fondle, it’s a Shrimps coat. For those who aren’t quite ready to leave black behind, at least accessorise it with some pink trimming.
Shrimps: Was: £725 Now: £435
Keep them lines long with this super sleek, ever on trend, classic, full length camel coat. An editors essential and absolute steal too.

The end of 2016 saw a lot of vinyl and patent come through on the trouser front, but if like me, you are not quite brave enough, a simple coat will up your outfit ante.

Florals are massive this spring, but where there are flowers let there be wildlife! The structure of this classic 60’s style will always be complimentary to your wardrobe, brighting up the most basic of outfits.
