Cruelty Free Spring Hair and Make Up Trends

Spring beauty trends this spring are plentiful, with this season's runways giving us endless hair and make-up inspiration. I thought I'd do my take on how to recreate these trends but using only cruelty-free (that means not tested on animals or containing animal ingredients) beauty products.

The top trends include:

Clear, natural skin (seen at Isabel Marant and Marni)

Braids and Plaits (seen at Balenciaga and Roberto Cavalli)

Glitter Lips (seen at Fendi and DKNY)

Metallic Eyes (seen at Jill Stuart and Aigner)

Clear Natural Skin

To acheive this look, its all about keeping up a good skincare routine and paring down the make-up. There are so many brilliant cruelty-free brands out there that produce skincare products to envy the most popular (but not kind to animals) labels like Clarins and Clinique. Here are my three favourites:

  1. ESPA refining skin polish (buy here)

  2. White Rabbit day cream (buy here)

  3. Too Faced face primer (buy here)

Braids and Plaits

Braids and plaits are huge for this spring. Whether you prefer chunky textured fishtail plaits or mini bohemian braids, there are endless ways to incorporate this trend into your hair. Key products to acheive this look include serums and oils for smoothing the braid or texture creams and salt sprays to add volume and texture to the braid, and of course hairspray to hold it in place all day. Here are my three favourite cruelty-free hair products:

  1. Paul Mitchell texture cream (buy here)

  2. Giovanni styling mist (buy here)

  3. Superdrug anti-fizz serum (buy here)

Glitter Lips

Glitter lips are definately one of the most bold and brillaint make-up trends this season. The key to a lasting lip (besides avoiding food and drink!) is a strong, sticky base, and high quality, cruelty free glitter on top! I definately recommend these three products from the wonderful Sara Hill Make Up:

Sara Hill Galaxy glitter (buy here)

Sara Hill Ruby Shoes Glitter (buy here)

Sara Hill Flamingo glitter (buy here)

Metallic Eyes

A failsafe way to impress on the dancefloor is making your eyes pop with a metallic finish. Matte is so last season. I love defining the eyes with a glitter eyeliner, highlighting the brow arch and inner corner, or applying a shiny, sparkly eyeshadow all over the lid. Here are my top three products to acheive this look:

  1. Kiko Milano glitter eyeliner (buy here)

  2. Kiko Milano Water Eyeshadow (buy here)

  3. Rosie for Autograph starstruck highlighter (buy here)
