Whilst skin was fresh and glowy on the catwalks of New York Fashion Week Fall 2017, eyes and lips were statement-making riots of colour. From the geometric cut creases at Prabal Gurung to the bright block eyeshadow at Anna Sui, the preview of how we are going to be doing our eyes and lips this AW17 was anything but boring.
These are definitely looks that will work just as well this season too, so we’ve put together an orange and pink makeup look, inspired by the Jason Wu and Oscar de la Renta NYFW shows, that is easy to re-create at home and is perfect for spring and summer.
Makeup artist Tom Pecheux designed the beauty looks for the Oscar de la Renta show. Models rocked colourful two-tone eyes; mixing brights such as orange and lilac shadow with electric pink liner.
Over at Jason Wu, lips were high-shine and also two-tone. A pink-red bottom lip was mismatched with an orange-red top lip to create an eye-catching, but still very wearable look. Makeup artist Yadim explained that the key was using similar shades so that the result wasn’t too disjointed.
To do this look on yourself, start with a flawless base that’s radiant and has serious glow in all the right places. Use an eyeshadow blending brush to buff out a neon orange powder eyeshadow all over your lids – you want it to be quite a sheer wash of colour. Finish this off with a couple of coats of black mascara and a flick-free thick line of electric pink or magenta liquid eyeliner.
The lip look is just as easy to do. Line your lips with a dark pink lip liner to give them some definition, then fill in both your top and bottom lips with a high-shine pink-red liquid lipcolour. Finish this off with a clear lip gloss on your bottom lip and an orange lip gloss on your top lip – to create two lips that look different, but still melt into each other.
If orange and pink aren’t your bag, try mixing things up with some different colours that are more in keeping with your style and skin tone.
