Blow Bridal, a unique, fresh wedding hair and makeup offering has arrived in Glasgow.
Run by Jen Beattie founder of Violet Rose MUA & Fallon Carberry founder of BLOW, they are no strangers to setting trends alight and their latest endeavour is set to change the wedding industry in Scotland.
We caught up with the babes behind the brand to find out why they started Blow Bridal & what we can expect for the future.
How did the concept to start a business together come about?
We are childhood best friends who went to school together since primary 1 and as part of that journey have always supported each other’s endeavours and separate business plans and ventures. We share a ‘believe you can do anything and you can’ mentality and given our respective businesses fit together so nicely, one day Fallon called me when I had my kids at playgroup and said ‘we’re doing bridal hair and makeup together and it’s going to be amazing’. I agreed without any questions because it seemed so obvious!! We trust each other’s judgement implicitly so we jumped in got planning and here we are!
How long have you been working on the concept together?
For the last 6 months or so. We are both very impatient but we wanted to nail it and launch something super fresh and exciting so we’ve taken time to perfect the experience and the details and to organise the most extra launch we could think of with the help of the amazing girls at Flat White Comms.
Jen you spoke about being anti heavy make up for weddings, do you find this is something brides feel pushed into?
As a makeup artist I take inspiration every day from so many styles of makeup from editorial to theatrical and everything in between. My philosophy is very much to celebrate women and help them to love what they see when they look in the mirror. If a woman loves heavier makeup and feels amazing with it then I would encourage her to go for that on any day she feels like it! I just want to show women that there is an alternative and that just because it’s your wedding day, doesn’t mean you need to conform to a certain style of makeup or hair for that matter. It’s about you feeling like you but the very best version, whatever that might be.
Can we expect to see BLOW_Bridal at big wedding shows or are you planning on keeping to indie bridal fairs?
You can expect to see us all over the country! Wherever there’s a bride looking for bespoke hair and makeup which is entirely personal to her, we’ll be there!
Why do you think the wedding industry needs BLOW_bridal?
It’s a creative industry which always benefits from new and fresh ideas. We want brides to have even more choice of how to look and feel their best on their day and we believe we are offering the most bespoke service the market will have seen so far.
Who would be your dream bride to style?
Someone like Emma Lou Connolly. A fierce, cool women with an eclectic style and a love of fabulous hair and makeup!
If there was one tip for brides to help keep their hair/makeup in check, what would it be?
Have a fabulous maid of honour who keeps an eye on it all day and trust the products of your chosen professionals. We use high end options which fix the hair and makeup in place all day long without leaving either feeling too done or ‘set’.
