Can you believe it's been three years since Alexander Wang x H&M?! Time - and fashion - moves fast, and New York City royalty Wang is no different.
This fashion week, we were treated to #WANGFEST (now that's my kinda festival, am I right ladies?!) which comprised three shows across different parts of the city. The main one that the press was invited to was held in Bushwick, a cool and urban spot in Brooklyn.
Models like Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Suki Waterhouse, and Alice Dellal filed out of trucks. Much to the journalists' dismay, they were an hour late, but when it's Alexander Wang, you wait for the spectacle.
What emerged was a hugely grown-up collection. Plenty of his signature black was paired wih muted nudes, blues, and whites.
Underwear as outerwear is clearly staying the course until next year, as we see corsets, bralets, and slips alongside leather and denim. It feels very much like Courtney Love meets Carrie Bradshaw, with grungy, baggy garments given a girly, fashion spin. There's even some sparkle in there for you glamour babes.
Items I'm living for include, but are not limited to:
- The trousers with one sequin leg.
- The denim shorts over leather skinny trousers. Shouldn't work, but somehow do.
- The party girl headdresses.
- Everything draped off the shoulder or tied around the waist. It feels so casual and nonchalant (although if I wore it I think it'd be more scruffy but nvm).
Please don't quote me about those khaki cargo pants, as I'd really like to eras them from my mind. However, otherwise this is a solid collection - but like the expected anything less from Wang.
Check it out:
So Manhattan, so Soho, so Brooklyn. I am ready to take a bite from the big apple Mr Wang.
